Yuanmiaoliang (Selina) Chen joined the Elimelech research group as a postdoctoral researcher in January 2025. Her research focuses on advancing membrane technologies for sustainable water treatment, with a particular emphasis on desalination and wastewater reuse. Currently, Selina is exploring the innovative application of dialysis, a concept inspired by medical science, for wastewater treatment solutions.
Selina earned her Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore under the guidance of Prof. Tai-Shung Chung, where she focused on developing novel membrane materials to enhance the robustness and efficiency of membrane distillation. She also holds an M.S. from Vanderbilt University and a B.E. from Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Prior to joining the Elimelech research group, Selina worked as a postdoctoral researcher in China, collaborating with Prof. Zhangxin Wang and Prof. Zhifeng Yang. During this time, she broadened her expertise to encompass process engineering, integrating experimental investigations with process modeling to develop innovative separation technologies.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Selina is passionate about traveling and exploring diverse cuisines.
